Marlene Henkel: BOS Balance of Storage Systems AG is an innovative tech company based in Ulm, Germany that founded in 2014. The CEO and co-founder is Benjamin Seckinger. With a dedicated team of about 45 employees the company has been established as a pioneer in the world of modern energy supply, specializing in intelligent hybrid storage technologies. After the success of its breakthrough lithium-lead technology, BOS is now focusing on developing lithium battery solutions that are very easy to install. These plug-and-play solutions serve market segments that require a self-sufficient energy supply. Including the caravan and boats sector, as well as target markets in rural and semi-urban regions with limited or no access to modern energy supplies. The target markets are in Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania, and Latin America. The combination of innovative technology and the pursuit of a more sustainable future makes BOS a significant player in the field of energy supply and storage.
What are the main areas of activity of the company?
M.H: The main areas of activity for BOS include providing modern energy supply solutions through intelligent hybrid storage technologies. BOS focuses on the caravan and boat sectors with its lithium-based batteries, as well as off-grid systems that deliver sustainable electricity to rural and semi-urban regions in the global south. The company is also active in developing plug-and-play energy storage solutions for both developed and developing markets.
What’s the news about new products/services?
M.H: For the Off-grid sector (rural and semi-urban areas) we developed a new product, the BOS system Compact. This system is made for smaller projects that don´t need so much capacity. The BOS system Compact is also an all-in-one box solution, but it cannot be upgraded like the other Off-grid solutions. Therefore, it is ideal for small and cost-efficient projects. The first project with this system will be implemented this year in Nigeria, where it will be used for 133 small health stations.
For the BOS battery S, which we launched in 2022, we will ramp up our production until the end of the year 2024. We are also planning to enter new branches in the industry sector with the BOS battery S.

The product portfolio includes the LE300 battery and the battery S, which are intelligent hybrid storage technologies designed for the caravan, boat, and off-grid sectors. Additionally, BOS provides complete off-grid energy systems, enabling environmentally friendly electricity access in rural and remote areas, particularly in developing regions such as the global south. The BOS system one and the BOS system pro are all-in-one box solutions, that can be easily deployed on-site, unlike conventional construction methods.

M.H: BOS’s most innovative products include the LE300 and BOS battery S, both of which are intelligent hybrid storage systems designed for easy integration and installation. These plug-and-play solutions offer advanced energy management features, increasing the lifespan of batteries while optimizing performance for applications in the caravan, boat, and off-grid sectors. The BOS Battery S is particularly innovative due to its compact size and light weight of 9.99 kg.
What estimations do you have for the rest of 2024?
M.H: For the rest of 2024, we expect to keep growing in the battery and energy storage markets, thanks to the rising demand for top-quality solutions in motorhomes, boats, and off-grid setups. We’re looking to expand in Southern Germany and internationally, with a strong focus on sustainability and circular economy principles. Innovation will stay central as we improve our products to be more durable, perform better, and support second life uses.
