FACTIUN DEVELOPS FACTIUN TRX TRACKERS AND CALISTO SOFTWARE

To optimize land usage, reduce earthworks, and increase energy yields on complex terrain, Spanish solar mounting specialist Factiun is expanding its utility-scale single-axis tracking and fixed-structure platforms. Operating with over 20 years of sector experience across more than 20 GW installed, Factiun delivers engineered solar structures alongside comprehensive project support, pull-out testing, and commissioning. In an interview with CEO Pablo Landa, the company highlighted its Factiun TRX® single and dual-row solar tracker platform, which incorporates patented post-locking mechanisms, 3D backtracking algorithms, and standardized tube profiles. To streamline installation on irregular topography, Factiun utilizes its proprietary C.A.L.I.S.T.O.® 3D modeling and layout optimization software, enabling precise pile placement and inter-tracker shading analysis. With active subsidiaries across France, Poland, Italy, the UK, Peru, Brazil, and India, Factiun provides tailored structural engineering to maximize return on investment under evolving European tender requirements and hybrid solar-plus-storage frameworks.

Interview with Pablo Landa, CEO of Factiun.

A brief description of the company and its activities.

Pablo Landa: Factiun is a European company specialized in solar trackers and mounting structures for utility-scale solar projects. With over 20 years of industry experience and more than 20 GW installed, Factiun’s team has extensive expertise in both fixed-tilt and solar tracking systems. As part of the Amixalan Group, the company benefits from a solid financial backing.

Factiun has assembled a highly experienced technical and commercial team, positioning the company to pursue an ambitious international expansion strategy, with a particular focus on Europe and Latin America, and now also on India.

What are the main areas of activity of the company?

P.L: Factiun’s main areas of activity include the engineering, development and optimization of fixed structures (Factiun FIX®) and tracking systems (Factiun TRX®), tailored to the specific requirements and conditions of each project, combining technical expertise with a practical, project-oriented approach.

The company also provides complementary services, including pull-out test campaigns, installation assistance, quality control and commissioning. Additionally, Factiun has a dedicated team developing and improving its proprietary software, C.A.L.I.S.T.O.® and automation tools powered by AI.

Factiun has subsidiaries in France, Poland, UK, Italy, Peru, Brazil and India, and operates commercially in all Latam and Caribbean region, Africa and Eastern European markets.

What’s the news about new products/services?

P.L: Factiun has developed a solar tracker based on decades of industry experience, offering improved performance compared with alternative market solutions. Its flexible design, patented locking system at each post and standardized tube components simplify installation, optimize the structure and help minimize earthworks

A key innovation is C.A.L.I.S.T.O.®, Factiun’s in-house software designed specifically for solar trackers and the teams who build and install them. It enables topographic layout optimization, individual pile positioning, layout counting, design iterations and inter-tracker shading analysis. Its 3D modelling capabilities provide an accurate representation of the project, supporting better-informed decisions.

Beyond the product, Factiun offers agile, hands-on support throughout the project lifecycle, engaging from the earliest stages to minimize earthworks, reduce costs and shorten construction timelines.

What are the ranges of products/services?

P.L: Factiun offers a range of solar mounting solutions, including single-axis solar trackers and fixed-tilt structures for utility-scale photovoltaic projects. The company also provides comprehensive project support services throughout the project lifecycle, from initial design and engineering to installation assistance, quality control and commissioning. With a highly experienced team, Factiun specializes in tackling complex technical challenges and delivering tailored, cost-effective solutions adapted to each project’s specific requirements and site conditions.

Factiun designs with on-site realities in mind, incorporating generous tolerances and practical features that simplify installation, reduce execution time and improve overall project quality.

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

P.L: The European solar market is evolving, with some markets, such as Spain, experiencing a slowdown, while others, such as Italy, are showing strong growth. Overall, projects are becoming increasingly challenging to develop, often involving complex technical requirements.

Factiun’s international diversification strategy and strong technical expertise enable us to adapt to these changing market conditions and build client confidence, positioning us as a trusted partner for projects.

What can you tell us about market trends?

P.L: Several key trends are shaping the European solar market. New requirements in public tenders, such as the NZIA, are promoting European industry. Meanwhile, hybrid projects combining solar power and energy storage are gaining momentum, as this combination offers significant potential for the energy transition. The growing availability of private PPAs is also helping make new projects financially viable.

At the same time, financial pressures across the industry are increasing the need to optimize project costs and performance. Factiun is adapting its solutions to the specific characteristics of each market and the evolving needs of its clients, focusing on technical optimization, cost efficiency and solutions that enhance project viability, to improve CAPEX and OPEX.
