Mar-Bud is a family company with Polish capital, founded in 1997 and is one of leading construction companies in Poland. Headquarters of Mar-Bud is located in Warsaw. In 2016, Mar-Bud, as a result of the company’s dynamic development, took steps to commercialize an innovative Ice Thermal Storage – ICE ON. The final product is the result of many years of research and the involvement of many professionals from HVAC market. Factory of innovative Ice Thermal Storage ICE ON is located in central of Poland near Lukow.
Interview with Grzegorz Onyszczuk, Business Development Manager at Mar-Bud.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Grzegorz Onyszczuk: The main activity of company is general contracting of buildings in field of cubature construction, engineering, industrial, ecological and railway infrastructure. In the last few years, the company has been intensively developing in the direction of innovative technologies for energy-efficient and ecological construction.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
G.O: ICE ON energy saving Ice Thermal Storage is the easiest and the fastest way to reduce operating costs of cooling systems.
Accumulation of cooling energy in the form of ice allows to reduce annual operating costs by up to 30%, thanks to which the investor obtains a short payback time. Cashback of just a few years.
This solution could be applied to existing cooling systems with chillers as well as to new installations. ICE ON Ice Thermal Storages enable production of energy cooling in periods when electricity is the cheapest, e.g. at night. Energy cooling accumulated in the form of ice is then used for process cooling or to provide thermal comfort conditions.
The main difference between traditional chillers and ICE ON Ice Thermal Storage is the use of the most optimal conditions that occur during the day for the operation of the device. Lowering the temperature on the condenser side by 10°C increases the efficiency of the cooling device by more than 30%. In addition, it is possible to change the method of settlement with the electricity supplier, taking into account tariffs with zoning.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
G.O: We offer 3 sizes of ICE Thermal Storage: ICE ON – 120 kWh, ICE ON – 500 kWh, ICE ON – 1000 kWh. All technical data are available on website.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
G.O: Nowadays we noticed rapid growth of interest in energy storage. This is of course related to several factors:
- high share of energy from RES,
- high energy prices,
- energy transformation in Europe.
There is a need to quickly implement a systemic solution that will guarantee maximum use of energy from RES. In addition, the market needs an act on the flexibility of energy services. Therefore, the pressure to install energy storage is very high.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
G.O: The most important market trends for the HVAC, RES and Energy sector are:
- safety and guarantee of meeting needs,
- a green source of energy by reducing CO2 emissions,
- reduction of energy consumption,
- maximum use of surplus energy from RES and cheaper energy from the night period.
The main trend among investors is the search for innovative solutions that will reduce energy costs. The best solutions not only reduce energy consumption, but also provide the opportunity to use surplus energy from RES and cheaper off-peak energy.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
G.O: ICE ON energy saving Ice Thermal Storage is the most innovative product on the market because this technology unlocks the untapped potential of three industries: HVAC, renewable energy and energy. Never before has there been as much need to implement a given technology at a specific moment in history as it is now in the case of innovative energy storage.
Reduction of energy costs by more than 30% is a key factor stimulating investment in innovation. Energy storage with the function of transformation to cooling energy is an extremely interesting solution, because the unit cost of such a device is much lower compared to lithium-ion energy storage. In addition, the device is non-flammable, does not contain heavy metals. Thanks to this, the disposal of such a product is very simple and cheap.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?
G.O: The year 2023, and especially 2024, will be a breakthrough year for investors who want to increase competitiveness on the market by reducing operating costs. Innovative energy storage will play a key role in this. Also important will be the launched support programs for financing such investments, which will drive the development of this market even further. Never before has there been so much pressure to quickly implement innovative technologies in the energy industry. Therefore, combination of many factors that causes such great interest in innovative energy storage.
ICE ON will help many investors get through the difficult times.
