Interview with Lara Dorbolò, CEO of Bross Italia.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Lara Dorbolò: Our company produces furniture. The carpentry and upholstery are internal so we have a wide possibility of customization, which makes us interesting, especially in hospitality and Ho.re.ca. We also work a lot with the naval sector for the supply of tailor-made furnishings for cruise ships all over the world.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

L.D: Historically, we have always worked with wood, also driven by the fact that we are in an region of Italy culturally linked to processing this material. In recent years, we have also opened up to other materials, such as metals, and this year, we have also started working with the latest generation full-body ceramics, both for the tops of our tables and the bases. The Aretha table, for example, comes with a base covered in washable and ultra-resistant technical fabric combined with wood or full-body ceramic. We are experimenting a lot with the use of new materials in our products to bring the typically Italian style into a new dimension.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

L.D: Chairs, armchairs, lounges, poufs, and sofas, tables, coffee tables, desks, and other furnishing accessories.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

L.D: We work on a medium-high range for refined interior projects. From this point of view, the market has not undergone particular changes, and the attention towards Made in Italy quality products remains high. After the global pandemic, we recorded a growth – which is now stabilizing – in household products because people were encouraged to renovate their home environments with beautiful, refined furnishing with a story to tell and, above all, customizable.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

L.D: We always try to include an innovative component in our production, be it a joint between the parts or an aesthetic detail that enhances the entire structure. A particular table that distinguishes us is Amalong, designed by Giulio Iacchetti. The legs have a heart-shaped section and hide small zips. In this way, the sides of the legs open up and become extensions for other parts of the top.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2023?

L.D: We expect this year to be positive, also thanks to the return of all the trade fair events, which have helped the market and companies to make their products known to their public. In our Milan showroom, we are planning a schedule of events that should further simplify relationships and increase results, so we are confident.
