Interview with Dariusz Terlecki, Regional Director Webfleet Poland & EE Region at Webfleet.

What are the company’s main areas of activity?

Dariusz Terlecki: Webfleet is one of the world’s leading telematics providers, and our team of experts is dedicated to fleet management, vehicle telematics and connected car services. With our solutions, fleets can track their vehicles, cut costs, boost productivity and reduce their CO2 emissions. From planning daily schedules to communicating with teams on the road, our customers can optimise their entire fleet operations. We offer a range of fleet compliance solutions that can help businesses avoid penalties, empower drivers and focus on delivering even more value to their customers. Fleets in more than 180 countries rely on Webfleet’s market-leading support. And our portfolio continues to evolve to meet fleet needs and the demands of the changing mobility landscape.

Do you have any product or service news to share?

D.T: We recently surveyed 1,800 fleet decision makers across the world to understand the technological trends shaping the future of mobility. Our findings show that fleet managers expect artificial intelligence and machine learning to have the biggest impact on their business in the coming five years.

We know that AI will play a significant role in fleet management. So at last month’s  IAA Transportation in Hanover, we introduced our new Webfleet AI Assistant, which will be a game changer for fleet management. Our AI tool delivers real-time and historical data about key fleet performance indicators, including fuel and energy consumption, and driving events such as idling, speeding and harsh braking.

Fleet managers can type prompts asking, for example, ”Give me the statistics for all driving times and total mileage for my drivers, aggregated for the last five months,” or ”What is the fuel consumption trend over the last three months?” and get precise overviews in seconds. With our AI tool, fleet managers can also access pre-defined prompts and suggested follow-up questions. The Webfleet AI Assistant is currently in beta testing and development with a select group of customers.

What range of products and services does Webfleet provide?

D.T: Webfleet provides all the strategic fleet management tools a business needs, from custom reporting to historical data on fuel consumption. As an innovative Software as a Service (SaaS), our fleet management software we give our customers secure access to all the information they need to manage their fleet operations in the most effective way.

With solutions such as Webfleet VideoWebfleet TPMS or vehicle tracking, we make drivers’ work much easier and more efficient, while ensuring their comfort and safety, and minimising the costs of unplanned downtime.

Webfleet also gives you the tools you need to manage your electric vehicles (EVs). With real-time battery monitoring, EV-specific route planning and fleet electrification reports, we can help you optimise your electrifying journey, whether you’re just starting out or already manage a full fleet of EVs.

Our solutions make it easy for fleets to stay compliant with evolving regulations, from the rules on smart tachographs to environmental legislations. No matter how big or small your business is, Webfleet can help you improve vehicle performance—and with enhanced visibility of your data, increase overall fleet efficiency.

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

D.T: Companies around the world are focusing on reducing operational costs, improving fuel efficiency and optimising routes. This has led to a growing demand for real-time tracking and data analytics solutions like Webfleet.

It’s also a big year for fleet compliance. That’s because 2024 kicks off important changes to legislations around smart tachographs, fleet emissions and trailer management. Businesses need to comply with regulations around driver hours and vehicle safety, especially in regions like Europe.

Fleet operators are concerned about reducing carbon emissions, which is leading more businesses to adopt EV fleet management and sustainability reporting solutions. Supporting fleet electrification is one of Webfleet’s key aims.

What can you tell us about emerging market trends?

D.T: According to our new global study I mentioned before—conducted to shed light on the current and future landscape of fleet digitisation—fleets expect to increase their investment in digital fleet technologies over the next five years. Our findings show that fleets are planning to adopt AI and EV technologies.

The evolution of fleets towards electric vehicles is an important element, and this is an area we have been actively developing and supporting fleets for a long time. Webfleet is also developing mobile solutions for the future and is committed to using cutting-edge technology to meet the challenges of fleet operators, integrating tyre sensors, in-vehicle cameras, artificial intelligence and IoT to improve efficiency, safety and sustainability now and well into the future.

Which Webfleet products and services are the most innovative?

D.T: One of our most innovative products is the world’s first comprehensive EV Services Platform. It is a unique ecosystem that integrates solutions from industry-leading mobility and energy providers into a single platform. Businesses with fleets will be able to access a wide range of advanced EV services easier, faster and with a lower cost of integration, accelerating electrification and optimising EV operations. The platform creates a seamless connection between individual service providers, based on fleet and energy data. The end result for fleets is a comprehensive solution that provides an easy and efficient path to electrification.

Another innovative feature is the aforementioned Webfleet AI Assistant. With its generative AI technology, fleet managers can manage data intuitively and easily. The beta is focused on our OptiDrive 360 solution, to provide customers with precise answers to queries about driving behaviour.

Would you like to offer any predictions for the rest of 2024?

D.T: Driven by innovation and the shift toward sustainable and data-driven operations, fleets will continue to invest in digital transformation to boost efficiency, reduce costs and enhance road safety. At Webfleet we are committed to supporting businesses to manage their fleets more efficiently, effectively and sustainably.
