To advance non-invasive urological diagnostics and streamline clinical workflows worldwide, MEDKONSULT medical technology (MMT) is expanding its urodynamic diagnostic platforms and international education initiatives. Based in Olomouc and continuing a clinical research tradition dating back to the 1970s, MMT operates across an international exclusive distributor network spanning over 80 countries.
CEO Marek Švarc highlighs its core diagnostic portfolio, including 100% waterproof wireless uroflowmeters, the compact Melody system, and the multi-monitor Symphony platform with X-ray and ultrasound connectivity. Supported by a workforce of 87 specialists alongside sister company Trystom, MMT acts as the exclusive global distributor for US-developed Gemini air-charged pressure catheters. To complement its MDR-certified UROMIC FRESH hardware line, MMT established the MMT Academy in 2025 to deliver accredited clinical training for urologists and distribution partners while engineering AI-driven diagnostic software for its next-generation platform.
Interview with Marek Švarc, CEO of MEDKONSULT.
A brief description of the company and its activities.
Marek Švarc: MEDKONSULT medical technology, or MMT, is a Czech MedTech SME based in city of Olomouc. We focus on urological diagnostics, particularly urodynamics, and develop and manufacture devices that help assess bladder function and diagnose various urological conditions. We sell our products internationally through an established exclusive distributor network covering more than 80 countries. Besides our core business, we are also involved in education and R&D, working closely with academic and clinical institutions.
What are the main areas of activity of the company?
M.Š: Our work is closely connected to the long tradition of urodynamics in Olomouc, where the clinical and scientific foundations of Czech urodynamics were established in the 1970s. As a family-owned company, we continue this tradition by developing and manufacturing our own specialized product portfolio for the international market. We are currently one of the leading manufacturers of urodynamic equipment worldwide and continuously expand our products with new functions and technologies.
We are actively involved in the regional innovation ecosystem and cooperate with key academic and clinical institutions. We also work closely with our sister company Trystom, which provides selected technologies and valuable technical know-how. Together, the two companies employ 87 highly qualified people, including many R&D specialists.
Education is another important part of our activities. In 2025, we launched MMT Academy, an international platform providing urodynamic training for doctors, distributors and other professionals.
We also maintain close relationships with our international distributors through regular training and joint activities. We firmly believe that well-trained and knowledgeable distributors are key to building strong partnerships and delivering outstanding results.

What’s the news about new products/services?
M.Š: In 2025, we launched MMT Academy, a global education platform focused on urodynamics. It offers both live workshops and online and onsite training at different levels, depending on the needs of the participants. We do believe that education and training has the same importance as products themselves and actually help make the best of our devices.
But above all, in 2025, we also embarked on the development of a completely new product line, which we plan to bring to market by 2028-2030.
What are the ranges of products/services?
M.Š: We cover the clinical needs of uroflowmetry and urodynamics, including all related accessories and consumables.
Our uroflowmeters – devices used to measure urinary flow – are 100% waterproof, a unique feature worldwide. When used wirelessly they communicate with on radio frequency which also is unique.
Our urodynamic systems are designed to fully respect established clinical procedures. As we are not the ones defining those procedures; instead, we put all our effort into making diagnostics as comfortable, intuitive and efficient as possible. The device adapts to the doctor, not the other way around.
That is why we pay particular attention to ergonomics, but above all to our software, which is exceptionally customizable and can be adapted to individual clinical workflows and user preferences.
We offer two core product ranges. Melody is our fully equipped, compact solution, combining everything needed for comprehensive urodynamic testing in a small footprint. Symphony is our more advanced, highly configurable platform, which can accommodate up to two monitors and supports comprehensive urodynamics, including connectivity with peripheral equipment such as X-ray and ultrasound systems.
All of these examinations can be performed using our own urodynamic commode chair or examination table, both developed specifically to support the clinical workflow.
Our portfolio also includes consumables, particularly catheters. In addition to traditional water-perfused catheters — used for measuring pressure in the bladder — we offer a highly modern air-charged catheter technology, considered one of the leading solutions in the field. We are the exclusive worldwide distributor of these catheters from Gemini, the US company that developed and manufactures them.
Our support does not end with the products themselves. We provide application and technical support, on-site and online training for distributors and clinicians, and practical assistance with the implementation and use of our systems.

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
M.Š: Due to its relatively small size, combined with the same registration requirements as other medical devices and the still considerable technological complexity of the equipment, the urodynamics market remains relatively specialized and stable.
The market is very diverse across countries, with different levels of adoption, clinical practices and purchasing processes. We see continued potential for growth, as healthcare standards are improving in an increasing number of countries. At the same time, the market responds well to technological progress, creating opportunities for growth through modern, user-friendly solutions, as well as better clinical support and education.
What can you tell us about market trends?
M.Š: From our perspective, we try to avoid generic assumptions and broad estimations. Although there are clear global trends, every market we serve is unique, with its own specific needs and dynamics. We therefore make a deliberate effort to understand each market individually and adapt our approach accordingly.
Understanding each market takes time, but it is essential for developing the right strategy. As we work through distributors, their local knowledge and insights are extremely valuable to us. We also use various AI tools to analyze data, identify patterns and spot new opportunities.
What we can say more generally is that end users increasingly expect medical devices to become easier and more comfortable to use, while offering better functionality and a smoother overall experience. We see these expectations as an important driver of our continuous product development.
What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
M.Š: The most innovative product to date is the UROMIC FRESH line, completed in 2022 — the first urodynamic devices in the world certified under the demanding MDR medical device regulation (MMT was also the first medical device manufacturer in the Czech Republic certified under MDR). The company is now developing a successor product line, planned for 2028, that will include AI-based features and an intelligent software platform predicting probable diagnoses from measured data via self-learning algorithms.

MMT Academy, launched in 2025, is also a notable innovation in how the company builds clinical authority and market presence through education. We also contribute to the pre-clinical diagnostic phase by developing our own micturition diary app, which allows patients to record their urination and fluid intake and provides valuable information for the subsequent diagnostic process.
What estimations do you have for the second half of 2026?
M.Š: Taking into consideration how turbulent world events have been in recent years, we believe that confidence in our own hard work and the ability to adapt is still the best way to deal with whatever comes next.
We operate in markets facing very different challenges – from very stable and growing regions to serious security issues and even war zones, as well as difficult economic situations and unstable political environments. Many of these developments could not have been predicted, yet we have always had to find a way to adapt and keep moving forward. We do not expect this to change anytime soon.
That is why we are careful with long-term estimations. Rather than trying to predict exactly what will happen, we focus on what we can control: developing our products, supporting our partners and customers best we can, and making sure we are ready to respond to whatever the second half of 2026 may bring.
