THERMOSCREENS – SPECIALIST IN HEATING, VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING

Thermoscreens manufactures and supplies HVAC equipment across a wide range of sectors, including retail, hospitality, public buildings, cold chain and warehousing. With a strong focus on energy efficiency, comfort and operational performance, the company works closely with wholesalers, contractors and end users to provide practical HVAC solutions that support both commercial and sustainability goals.

Interview with Alastair Fawcett, UK Sales Manager at Thermoscreens.

What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Alastair Fawcett: A key part of Thermoscreens’ activity is identifying customers who are looking to reduce energy costs in environments such as shops, cold rooms and warehousing facilities. As a customer-focused, face to face sales business, the company places great emphasis on understanding the specific needs of each site and recommending solutions that deliver measurable value.

What’s the news about new products/services?

A.F: Thermoscreens specialises in air curtains and fan coil units, with access to a broader range of HVAC products through sister companies, including space heating, destratification fans, chillers and air source heat pumps. The company also works with trusted service and installation partners, enabling it to offer a turnkey solution for customers across the UK.

One of the latest innovations from Thermoscreens is the slimline cold store air curtain, designed for use in walk in fridges and freezers. This product has been developed to help reduce energy consumption, limit ice build-up within freezer environments and improve usability for customers. Compared with the original product, the new slimline model is smaller, lighter and more commercially friendly, making it particularly suitable for busy cold chain and retail environments where space, efficiency and ease of installation are key considerations.

What are the ranges of products/services?

A.F: Cold store products are a major focus for us, as the technology remains relatively new within the industry and raising awareness is important. Over recent years, we have completed a number of case studies demonstrating the potential energy savings these products can deliver. Each customer in this sector has a different operational challenge, whether that is reducing running costs, improving temperature stability, limiting ice build-up or supporting wider carbon reduction targets. This creates significant opportunities for tailored solutions.

We specialize in air curtains and fan coil units, however we so offer space heating, destratification fans, chillers and air source heat pumps via our sister companies. We also have entrusted service and installation partners allowing us to offer a turnkey solution for our customers in the UK.

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

A.F: The UK air curtain market remains strong, and we are currently a market leader in this area, with year-on-year growth. Across the wider HVAC market, energy efficiency and decarbonisation continue to influence customer decisions. High velocity units have become increasingly popular with certain key customers who require greater airflow at entrance points. At the same time, there has been a noticeable shift from low temperature hot water systems to electric units, particularly where decarbonisation schemes are in place but heat is still required.

Another important trend is the move from heated to ambient air curtains. In these applications, the air curtain effect is maintained without adding heat, helping customers reduce both carbon emissions and running costs. This reflects a wider market movement towards solutions that support energy reduction while still maintaining comfort and operational efficiency.

What are the most innovative products/services marketed?

A.F: Out cold store products are heavily marketed as this is new in the industry so public awareness is key. We have conducted many case studies showcasing the energy savings to support this over the last few years. Each customer has a different agenda in this sector, giving us many opportunities for success.

What estimations do you have for the second half of 2026?

A.F: Looking ahead to the second half of 2026, Thermoscreens expects continued growth in the cold chain sector, with several projects due to begin in the coming months. From September, the business will also enter its peak season for core products, which is expected to support further organic growth across key sectors.

As businesses continue to look for ways to reduce energy consumption, improve operational performance and meet sustainability targets, Thermoscreens is well placed to support customers with specialist air curtain technology and practical HVAC expertise.
