RAMUS Industrie is a valves manufacturer on the water and wastewater markets. They produce valves for urban networks, but also, specific large dimensions valves on dams or nuclear installations.
Interview with Sophie Coquet, Sales Manager at RAMUS Industrie.
Easy Engineerign: How was 2022 for your business, a short summary?
Sophie Coquet: The year 2022 was marked by major supply difficulties, a rise in raw material prices, fluctuating energy costs which led us to struggle to produce on time while containing the price increase. The beginning of 2022 was quite complicated and we were able to maintain our service thanks to our new machines invested last year. In fact, we have been proactive, which has allowed us to reduce the impact of the economic situation on our production.
E.E: What products/services did you launch this year?
S.C: We launched the RI-TAG label on every regulator. It’s a database available on RFI, the customer moves his smartphone over the label and he finds instructions and all the useful information. He has the choice to select the options he needs. It is clearly an important support for internal traceability and ease of maintenance. Standarized this service on every regulator is to give access to the technology, regardless of the size of their installation.
E.E: How did the market change, compared to previous years?
S.C: We are seeing a collective awareness of the carbon impact and the origin of the material, whether it is food, clothing or even valves ! By producing in France, RAMUS Industrie is part of this context and has always chosen local and cleaner production.
The autonomy of production also allows to adapt our products to the needs of our customers and to provide the most suitable and most successful product, whatever the requirements of the service conditions.
E.E: What are the new challenges in your field of activity?
S.C: The big unknown in 2023 will be the impact on the cost of energy. Governments are pushing for greater energy autonomy, especially with the development of methanisation units.
We strongly believe in energy autonomy through green gas and support this development, as a complement to hydroelectricity as a renewable energy source.
We are starting a promotional campaign for our VGR knife gate valve which offers reliability and long-term operation in slurry applications.
E.E: What do you think the trends will be next year ?
S.C: The line is to be autonomous, work with reliable products and reduce maintenance time. Shutdown must be minimized for better profitability. We take part in this process by offering maintenance-free stainless-steel piston and seat mechanical systems.
E.E: What is the outlook for 2023?
S.C: We are very confident for 2023, as early signs show that the water market is continuing to grow with a greater pressure to perform. Product reliability to reduce waste. In this context we highlight our REDAR pressure regulator as a key element in providing all households with access to drinking water with the minimum of pressure drop.
2023 will also be an international year for us with the development of the Eastern European and Brazilian markets. Follow RAMUS Industrie in 2023!
